Glencoe Lemonade Stand to Benefit Preschool
It was a Mother's Day delight: chocolate chip cookies, lemonade and free advice.
Did everyone enjoy the celebratory Mother's Day weather? Some took the opportunity for a seasonal lemonade stand in Glencoe on Grove Street. Proceeds went to Moriah Early Childhood Center in Deerfield for playground renovations.
At 50 cents a drink and 50 cents a cookie — with advice on the side for free — business was undeniable.
"We are actually matching every dollar the kids raised and then adding a little more," said Rebecca Hoffman, mother of Abby, 5. "The money will be used to purchase equipment for the park the very youngest children use at Moriah. The idea for the lemonade stand was to fulfill a promise the eldest kids at Moriah make to do a "birthday mitzvah" which means a good deed for the community."

You did such a wonderful mitzvah for your birthday Abby. I am so proud of you.

This is lovely! Anyone else have a favorite lemonade stand or mitzvah memory to share?
