New Trier Democrats to Host Gun Forum
The organization will host a free public forum entitled 'Guns and Public Safety: Where We Stand After Sandy Hook' at the Wilmette Public Library.
A month after the school shooting in Newtown, CT, the New Trier Democrats will host a panel on gun issues — including school shootings, assault weapons, concealed carry, background checks and gun statistics —on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Wilmette Public Library.
Presenters at the forum include Mark Walsh of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, Lee Goodman of the Stop Concealed Carry Coalition and Jennifer Bishop-Jenkins of the Million Moms March.
"Like people all across America, people in the northern suburbs were stunned by the shootings in Connecticut," Goodman said. "They want to see a major shift in our nation's attitude towards violence. We are organizing the forum in Wilmette to help get people the information they need in order to move forward intelligently and effectively."
The New Trier Democratic Organization is made up of grassroots volunteers from throughout the New Trier township — including Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe and parts of Northfield and Glenview.
We are men and women, commuters and local business people, from every socio-economic level and of every age and race and many religions," according to the New Trier Democratic Organization's website. "Our personal diversity makes the New Trier Dems a truly democratic as well as Democratic group."

If this were truly a "democratic" event, the panel would include speakers who represent both sides of this very important issue. Sounds more like indoctrination to me.

Well, it is indoctrination. Most people out there rely their information on mainstream media which has its own biased agenda. This is the Internet age and please do your own unbiased research. Its free!!! Connecticut shooting is a False Flag. You dont have to believe me but pls do your research.

This was a great event for the Pro-Gun Groups, who took over the room, with a 90% of the attendees being from the Illinois State Riflemans Association and Concealed Carry. Com Outside, it was was a "Freeze for Freedoom" event. I brought my 8 Yr. old Son, D.J. and we were treated like second class citizens by the young lady representing the New Trier Group... very arrogant and unfriendly. We had a great time with some of the anti-gunners outside, like the ladies that tried to stop a photographer for the Media, from taking my Sons photo... I thought he was going to have them arrested. We gave a hug to one very nice young lady from Wisconsin, who thought she was an anti-gunner, but was having second thoughts. We welcomed her with open arms!

I attended the event as a pro gunner open to change. I feel that there should be background checks and a hold period but in no way do I support worthless laws like magazine limits and semi auto bans. So coming in I was going to hold a neutral opinion till I started hearing the speakers. Never did I think it would be so unprofessional and obvious distorted truths. One example was crime statistics of illinios but the admitted to leaving Chicago stats out of it. So Chicago is not part of illinios. Then when it came to conceal and carry the speaker who doesn't deserve to even be named for his insults he used prior to even starting used babies hundreds of times in his story/poem. What did babies have to do with conceal carry the speaker about gun violence should have used the babies guilt trip. So once again I am not a NRA member I went strictly to hear both sides and was shocked at the level of information used. It was scary to think these five people have any influence in my life. I tried to stay in the middle and hear both sides but I have been forced to side with the more radical just to support my case for two things. Overall I would be embarrassed to support the new trier democrats they are rude and out of touch with the normal gun owners not the radicals.
