Moms Talk: Do Helicopter Parents Keep Their Kids Safer Online?
This week, we're talking about monitoring kids' activity online.
Each week in Moms Talk Q&A, our local Parents Council of experts and been-there-done-that moms and dads take your questions, give advice and share solutions.
Moms, dads, grandparents and the diverse families who make up our community will have a new resource for questions about local neighborhood schools, the best pediatricians, 24-hour pharmacies and the thousands of other issues that arise while raising children.
Moms Talk Q&A will also be the place to drop in for a talk about the latest parenting hot topic. Do you know of local moms raising their children in the Tiger Mother's way and is it the best way? Where can we get information on local flu shot clinics for children? How can we help our children's schools weather their budget cutbacks?
Here's this week's question:
What role do you take in your kids' online activities? How do you talk to them about safety and privacy online?

The role that I take in my kid's online activities is to always be aware, and know how to use the social networks yourself first, so you can explain how to keep them safe. Because if you don't know how to use them, then you certainly can't teach them how to be safe.
