Glencoe Blotter: 4 Cars Have Mirrors Smashed; $150 Stolen From Locker
A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from May 26 to June 1.
The following items are provided by the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. Stolen Bike — An $1,100 GT mountain bike was reported stolen at 5:30 p.m. from the Glencoe Train Depot in the 700 block of Old Green Bay Road.
Swimming Deer – A deer was seen swimming at 2:01 p.m. in the lake at the Glencoe Beach by a U.S. Coast Guard patrol.
Illegal Solicitor — A door-to-door solicitor from Michigan City, IN, was cited for soliciting without a permit at 1:34 p.m. in the 200 block of Sheridan Road.
Lost Plates — The front license plate was reported stolen at 8:17 p.m. from a car in the 1200 block of Fairfield Road.
Vandalism — A red 2002 Buick Rendezvous SUV was found with its driver's side mirror knocked off at 2:42 p.m. in the 100 block of Scott Avenue. The incident occurred between 9:30 p.m. May 29 and 2:30 p.m. May 30. Damage was put at $250.
Found Bike — A bicycle was found at 3:02 p.m. at Grand Foods store in the 300 block of Hazel Avenue.
Vandalism — The mirrors to a gray 2010 Jeep Patriot and a silver Dodge Charger were broken off between 7:30 p.m. and 11:42 p.m. in the 300 block of Grove Street. A bag of garbage was dumped in the middle of the street next to the cars. The damages were estimated at $200.
A third vehicle, a black 2005 Honda, was damaged between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. in the 700 block of Bluff Street. An orange construction saw horse was placed on the hood and the driver's side mirror was ripped off. Police estimated the damage at $1,500.
Fake ID — A 20-year-old Glencoe man was cited after police said he tried to buy alcohol with someone else's driver's license at 9:55 p.m. at the 7-Eleven in the 100 block of Green Bay Road. He had left behind a Visa gift card and the identification, which was issued to a 21-year-old Highland Park man.
A 19-year-old Wilmette man tried to buy alcohol with a fake Indiana identification at 8:12 p.m. at the 7-Eleven. He walked out when the cashier refused to ring up the purchase. Police tracked the man down and cited him.
Theft — An employee's locker was broken into and $150 in cash was stolen at the Skokie Country Club in the 500 block of Washington Avenue. The report was filed at 11:01 p.m.
Trespassing — People were caught at the Glencoe Beach after-hours and their cars were ticketed at 10:19 p.m.
Found Plates — License plates were found around the village after flooding occurred at 2:55 p.m. in the 600 block of Village Court.
