Video Camp

  • When: Friday, July 20, 2012, 9:30 am
  • Where: Winnetka Public Library768 Oak St, Winnetka
  • Why Go?: At this weeklong camp students will learn the basics for making a good video. Work with professionals to learn storyboarding, screenwriting, sound production and editing techniques. Directors will film and edit video as part of our Video Fest program. A screening of the finished product ends the camp session. Registration is required. Summer Service Trip: Information and Discussion

  • When: Friday, July 20, 2012, 5:30 pm
  • Where: Winnetka Youth Organization620 Lincoln Ave, Winnetka
  • Why Go?: Every summer the WYO takes a group of four to twelve 16-18 year olds on a service immersion trip for a three to sevenday period. This year we have chosen to do work with Habitat for Humanity of Sauk-Columbia Area, just outside theWisconsin Dells, August 7th-10th. We hope that teens will enjoy being a part of and learning about a community andsocial service agency in a different part of the country, while giving back at the same time. Those interested in attending can join us at 5:30pm to learn more about how you can join in on helping Habitat for Humanity.

Read Outside the Box: An Evening Book Discussion for Kids

  • When: Friday, July 20, 2012, 7:00 pm
  • Where: Glencoe Roast Coffee700 Vernon Ave, Glencoe
  • Why Go?: Join us at Glencoe Roast Coffee for a discussion of Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea. Bring your thoughts about the book and we'll bring you treats and a drink! Space and materials are limited, so please contact the Children's Department to register and get a copy of the book. For children in grades 4-6 and parent/caregiver.

Hadley Young Visionaries' 5th Annual Glow Golf Tournament

  • When: Friday, July 20, 2012, 8:00 pm
  • Where: Winnetka Golf Club1300 Oak St, Winnetka
  • Why Go?:  Join the Hadley Young Visionaries for their 5th Annual Glow Golf Tournament! Tickets include golf, food, beverages and a goody bag. Raffle for great prizes including Chicago sports tickets, restaurant gift certificates and more! All proceeds benefit The Hadley School for the Blind.

Grades 3-6 "Aladdin" Music Theatre Camps

  • When: Friday, July 20, 2012, 9:00 am
  • Where: 213 Hazel Ave, Glencoe
  • Why Go?: The program focuses on building a cohort of well-rounded performers who work as a team. Students will learn beginning and intermediate-level skills in acting, singing and movement.

Winnetka-Northfield Sidewalk Sale

  • When: Friday, July 20, 2012, 9:00 am
  • Where: 841 Spruce St, Winnetka
  • Why Go?: The Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale will be held in the shopping district of Northfield and in Winnetka’s East Elm, Hubbard Woods and West Elm shopping districts on Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Retailers will display a range of goods:  fashion, jewelry, sporting goods, and books.  The Sidewalk Sale will also feature unique specialty merchants.  Shoppers will discover food vendors, charity organizations, and other professional services.

Book Babies at the Glencoe Public Library

 

Sailfest

  • When: Saturday, July 21, 2012, 11:00 am
  • Where:Perlman Boating BeachLongwood Ave & Hazel Ave
  • Why Go?: What could be better than a day of fun at the Glencoe Sailing Beach? All regatta participants receive a T-shirt. Set this date aside to get out on Lake Michigan! With daily admission fee enjoy:• Regattas: Youth (11 a.m.) / Adult (12 p.m.) • Kayak Excursions: (3 p.m.) This event is for Ages 10 and older. Activities are free with paid beach admission or season token! Rain date is August 11.
