North Shore Senior Center Offers “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” Classes
Research has shown that caregiver support is an effective way to reduce stress and the risk of burnout. For caregivers, asking for help may sometimes be difficult, but sharing common experiences and concerns with others in similar life situations can be beneficial.
Registration is now open for North Shore Senior Center’s “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a six-week educational series designed to provide caregivers with the tools they need to take care of themselves while caring for their loved ones. Participants will learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, effectively communicate feelings, achieve life balance, increase decision-making abilities, and locate helpful resources.
Sessions take place on Mondays, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 7 through April 11, 2011 at Evanston/Skokie Valley Senior Services, 840 Dodge Ave., Evanston, IL. Requested donation is $40, and includes the “Caregiver Helpbook.” No one will be turned away for inability to pay.
Space is limited and registration is required. Respite services may be available. For additional information or to register, please contact one of the class facilitators: Heather Resnick (in Northfield) at 847.784.6041 or Lauretta Hart (in Evanston) at 847.424.5661.
