Mark Stephan to be Lead Riders at this Year’s Bike Winnetka

Last year's Bike Winnetka inaugural ride was a great success with over 250 riders. The Winnetka Park District and the Bike Winnetka committee have built on that success and are planning another great day for a community ride throughout scenic Winnetka on Saturday, September 22.

“We are excited to announce that Winnetka's own, Mark Stephan will lead off this year's ride” said Bike Winnetka 2012 Chairperson Don Moloney.  “Mark just finished a cross country ride on his bicycle this summer to benefit the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC).  Mark's support of Bike Winnetka will surely make this day memorable and inspirational.”  To learn more about Mr. Stephan’s incredible story visit www.stephanchallenge.com.

Another change to this year’s event is a 2 mile option for younger participants (suggested for 3rd grade and under) and their families. Children with wheels under 20” will be required to participate in this option.  No training wheels will be allowed on the ride.  The 7.9 mile option is still available for all other riders.  A route map is available online at www.winpark.org (under Recreation, Programs, Bike Winnetka).

Registration fee is $5 per person and includes a Bike Winnetka t-shirt and water bottle thanks to the financial assistance of our community partners: Autohaus on Edens, BMO Harris Bank, City Kids Dental North Shore, LLC, Fields Auto Group,First Bank and Trust, Green Bay Cycles, Higher Gear, The Hudson Company, Nexum, Inc.Northbrook Toyota/Scion, North Shore Builders, North Shore Community Bank, Stormy's Tavern & Grille, TL Fritts Sporting Goods, Winnetka Current and Winnetka Talk.
