Ice Cold Water is No Problem for Leapers at Glencoe Beach!
Thirty-four brave men, women and children took a quick dip in Lake Michigan on Saturday, February 25 at the Glencoe Park District's "Leap in the Lake" event.
Sheer excitement and adrenaline pumped through the participants' veins as they rushed toward the icy water. Full submersion was completely optional - even dipping a toe in the water counted as a "leap" - but many participants took a deep breath and dunked themselves in! Some were even decked out in creative costumes to celebrate the occasion.
This new event was a fundraiser for the Park District's C.A.R.E. Scholarship Fund, which supports Glencoe residents in need of financial assistance to participate in Park District programs. Just over $1,400 was raised for the fund through registration and sponsorship donations, with additional donations being accepted through the end of this week.
The Park District extends a big thank you to all who participated, as well as to those who made a donation to the C.A.R.E. Scholarship Fund. We had a great time and hope you did too!
